Recommended Books for my Teenage Daughter

November 19, 2020 By Ben McEvoy

I went into a bookstore before lockdown and overheard a father asking the worker what books he would recommend for his teenage daughter.

They walked past the Austen. Past the Homer. Past the Shakespeare.

And straight to the colourful YA section.

Had my British sensibilities not intervened, I might have recommended a few different books…

Here are a few of the books I would recommend for teenage girls.

What books would you recommend for young women?

Interesting side-note – the analytics of the podcast show that ~80% of my listenership skews towards young women.

Does that say anything about the state of reading, books, book clubs, university, and education today? Or is it just a happy coincidence?

Either way, it’s a great audience to have!
