New Video Course: Ace The Oxford University English Language Admissions Test (ELAT)

August 9, 2020 By Ben McEvoy

Update from September 2020: The ELAT course is now available here.

I’m currently filming and editing a new video course on how to prepare for, and ace, the Oxford University English Language Admissions Test, otherwise known as the ELAT.

This is obviously super niche, but it will be perfect for anyone preparing to sit the ELAT.

There will be no other course that comes close to how beneficial this one is.

Whilst I’m still in pre-production, let me know:

Do you have any questions about the ELAT?

I’ll take requests and specific questions on board and add them to the course.

Currently the course looks like this:

  • A module on the philosophy behind approaching the ELAT
  • Super slow brainstorming module – we go through a paper together
  • Super slow writing a paper together, talking through the decisions as we go
  • Timed-response in real time, watch me write out an ELAT answer paper
  • A module on how best to write notes on the paper to structure your argument

We go super slow at first with a view to achieve mastery.

What you can do slowly and perfectly, you can then learn to do quickly, under pressure, in timed conditions. Think of a guitarist practicing chords slowly or a painter perfectly their shading. We’re doing that will language.

In the meantime, let me know what you’d like to see in the course (or book a consulting session with me if you can’t wait), and feel free to sign up to my newsletter to know when it goes live. The newsletter’s about books and you’ll get my study hacks ebook for free upon sign-up, but I’ll also let you know when the ELAT course drops.

Happy studies!

By the way, here’s a 30-minute video with me talking through ELAT stuff.

If you find the video helpful, you’ll really get so much more out of the course.

I’ll be sans-beard during the course too now that lockdown’s relatively over.
