Starting an email newsletter is one of the most rewarding things you can do online.
After managing multiple successful email newsletter campaigns for businesses in different industries over the years, not to mention getting great joy out of running my own email newsletter, I decided I want to teach you how to start your own email newsletter.
So I’ve started putting some videos together, which will eventually turn into a free course on how to start an email newsletter.
We’ll talk all about what kind of email newsletter you should start, the reasons for starting an email newsletter, how often you should send an email newsletter, what company you should use for your email newsletter, how to get people to sign up for your email newsletter, how to make money from your email newsletter, and more.
I’ve been in a “ship fast” kinda mood since lockdown began. So I’m releasing rough cuts of the videos ahead of time. I think that’s better than hoarding a bunch of material until it’s all finished.
In that spirit, here’s a quick discussion of why you should start an email newsletter. A good mindset/framework to begin with.
Why Start An Email Newsletter?
I assume you already have your reasons, but here are some of the common motives for starting an email newsletter:
- Networking
- Printing money
- Marketing
- Building authority
Even if you don’t have a product or service now but think you might in the future, now’s the time to start a newsletter. Email newsletters can take time to build, so it’s never too early to start.
My own personal email newsletter is small, but it’s engaged and quite niche. This suits my purposes as my intention with the newsletter is, and has always been, to network with likeminded people. And it does that very well. I’ve met a lot of high quality people thanks to the newsletter and always get wonderful responses from each email.
I’ve helped businesses and independent creatives with their lists and each one has an aim that typically falls into one of those four categories. I helped several entrepreneurs scale their lists to the point where they make several thousands of dollars from one email. On the other hand, I’ve helped businesses that don’t use the list to overtly sell but just to keep a connection with their current customers and reinforce services and products they might not know about – both in B2B and B2C.
We’ll talk more about the nitty gritty of getting a newsletter up and running in the next videos to follow.
